"By early this month, two more solar-powered, affordable rental communities will be open in Richmond and in La Quinta. According to developer EAH Housing, Crescent Park Apartments, located in Richmond, is the largest solar-powered affordable housing community in the United States. A 908-kilowatt solar electric system, installed by Berkeley-based Sun Light and Power, will provide electricity to the complex’s 378 apartments. The Crescent Park Apartments PV installation by itself moves the city of Richmond nearly 20% closer to its goal of installing 5 megawatts of solar by 2010."
